About Us

I am the Manager of Partner Engagement for the Animal Food Bank - a registered non-profit organization that feeds animals in need. We also have a Pet Club that people can join for $5/month - you get discounts and offers from our partner organizations and all proceeds go to the Animal Food Bank!

How We Got Started

Originally founded in Kelowna, BC, the Animal Food Bank aims to become a national organization promoting the sharing of resources and knowledge, and promoting collaboration between organizations working to feed and shelter the pets of the homeless and no/low-income individuals by working together to help change their circumstances.
Our organization aims to help fill gaps where we find them, and collaborate and support existing organizations. We don’t want any family to be in a position where they have to surrender their pet because they can’t afford to care for them. Pets provide our lives with so much and expect so little in return. The least we can do is help make sure the furry family members have a meal, too.
All pet lovers know first hand how important our pets are to us and our families. We wouldn’t trade the love, purpose, companionship, and acceptance they provide for anything in the world. That is only magnified for the low/no income and anyone experiencing homelessness. Pets

Hi Roy, what are you trying to raise awareness for? It's tough to answer your question when we don't really know what you are asking. (more) Hi Roy, what are you trying to raise awareness for? It's tough to answer your question when we don't really know what you are asking.

We are a local not for profit educational company in Calgary teaching STEM education and encouraging youth to continue in the STEM fields where the job market is increasing exponentially. But honestly I used to work at the homeless shelter here in Calgary and I think of the thousands of volunteers and the front line staff there, and my heart just warms to them all. And even more I think of every animal rescue organization here in Alberta, and especially the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force who join together and put their own safety at risk to go to places where animals are beaten, shot at, and run over on a daily basis. They spay and neuter hundreds of animals each time they do this, and rescue dozens from certain death. By reducing the animal overpopulation they are altering the perception of animals in these places, and by encouraging people not to abuse animals they are also reducing the number of children who are beaten (a statistical fact), and changing the whole acceptance of violence in these places in a subtle but very positive way.
