Right now absolutely no sales. Jewelry is a luxury. I expected that the first priority is lodging and food. I understand, my business is not my sole source of income so I can re-invent my product line and prep for future opportunities.

I do vendor sales. When customers walk up I say Hi Ladies or Hi Sir, Hope you see something you like today, or Hope I can help you select a unique design today. If they say, “Just Looking”, I smile and respond, Thanks for looking, everyone needs and Oh Ahh moment. It enriches the soul and it...

If they say, “Just Looking”, I smile and respond, Thanks for looking, everyone needs and Oh Ahh moment. It enriches the soul and it cost nothing to look, with me looking is Free!
Then I explain my designs are semi precious gemstone designs. Most of the time they either ask further or just keep looking. I hand them a card and I back off.

By writing this I feel you are already at the breaking point. The question really is How much do you value you? Family business usually implodes in a bad situation. Just look at the history of some family business. It's their business they don't have to change but you do if you choose to stay. You're going to have to have a thick skin, impenetrable tolerance and high stress level. I just read Alzheimer's is more prevalent in women due to stress. Leave because you're a good employee, not because you're at your wits end. Never let them see you "sweat"! You'll leave they'll get someone else but they'll still own that business!

As a Small business jewelry designer and owner I often find local events or pop up events looking for vendors. This particular one several of us found on FB on a vendor events page. I've done a few and they worked out great and I've made good contacts and friends. I'm due diligent and asked questions, looked up this girls business and saw she did coordinate smaller events and saw no complaints. On this event I paid in June and stayed in contact, asking follow up questions, etc. About 1wk before event I noticed her FB page started gives a different address location, I asked her and demanded she send out and updated email to all vendors which she did. Vendors were promised 5 tickets for friends, a Caribbean lunch, electricity. 800+ attendees, entertainment and dancers. Less than 100 people came, dancers were late, no singers. Event planner blamed everyone else and took no responsibility. Lied about ticket sales first it was 200, then 600 then 800, VIP was selling for $500, vendor fees were$200 non-food, $250 for food vendors. Alcohol was sold by club but minimum age for patrons was 18. Only a few vendors got lunch (sandwich and potato salad), the promotor/event planner showed up late didn't introduce herself to anyone, promised vendors could sell CBD and alcohol based food only to be turned away by owners of Karma DC club. Another vendor sold self defense equipment and club owner refused to allow her to sell. I've sent a complaint letter to DC Attorney General and I'm trying to work with DCRA and tax office to deter this ongoing and escalating scam. I want to establish "vendor rights." I learned the hard way and what I've seen most of these so called promoters/event planners are predatory especially with vendors and small brands trying hard in business. From now on if the sponsoring the event doesn't take you through a "juried" process then they are only trying to make a buck off my dime. Believe me this will never happen to me again. I depend on this method because I cannot afford brick and mortor for my merchandise. DC is expensive. Thanks community for all the awesome comments and suggestions, support. I really appreciate it👍👍
Jewelry sales are difficult to set goals for. I take sales as they come. Difficult to plan for. So much variety in jewelry style makes it harder to have goals.
Even department stores have hard time setting sales goals for high end, designer and precious stones
