How We Got Started

As an offshoot of a permaculture design project, the Global Family Farm was created at City Farm to demonstrate food cultures from around the world. Educational programs are taking root at the farm such as Farm Class, PREPARE program, FARMGIRLS Summer Camp, Restore & Renew the Earth events and school field trips.

(more) I'm trying out a new concept called "community farming" where together we work an area and share the bounty rather than people having individual plots like they do in community gardening. It is called Our Global Family Farm. https://www.ourglobalfamilyfarm.com/ It also is a place to honor cultures and food traditions from around the world. The trick is to get people to work the land as a community as that is not the normal paradigm we currently live in America. There is an ancient tradition in many parts of the world to have a "commons" though, and I believe we will need more land held in common in the future.
