As an Estate Planning Attorney office, we make ourselves very available for our own clientele as well to other professionals who deal our aging population. Communication is the key and being available makes the difference.
As an attorney, we have strict rules regarding fee splitting and commissions. I will acknowledge a client in writing the referral and will offer a small discount ($50) for thinking about us the next time when they come in for their annual review.
I also did start a monthly breakfast non-networking educational group about 25 years ago with experienced Attorneys, CPA's, Realtors, Hospice, Senior Care Givers and others. I believe we tend to work with "others" who we know. It was a great way to meet the "others" in providing for our clients and future clients.
