How We Got Started

I worked in research labs for 10 years and developed a curative chemo/immunotherapy for breast cancer in mice and a novel technique for diagnosing genetic disorders. Then I had worked for 15 years as a government contract toxicologist for 5 federal government agencies. After helping the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention answer toxicology questions from the public, I realized I really liked working closely with the people my work helps. To get more of that interaction I decided to become an expert witness in toxicology so I can work with my clients and their lawyers to ensure that the science of their case is accurately represented.

I have targeted mailings, but so far it hasn't paid off. Many people say it works, it just hasn't worked for me yet. I have played around with different letters and brochures, but have not found the key to getting new clients. (more) I have targeted mailings, but so far it hasn't paid off. I think it would be a turn-off and potential clients might pass you by, thinking you were not legitimate.  (more) I think it would be a turn-off and potential clients might pass you by, thinking you were not legitimate.

It's my understanding the waivers hold no real legal protection. They are just there as intimidation to try to prevent people from suing you. But if you screw up, you can still get sued. I'm not a lawyer though. (more) It's my understanding the waivers hold no real legal protection. They are just there as intimidation to try to prevent people from suing you. For me, I'm a professional, but there is no licensing board. So I use BBB as a way for people to submit formal complaints against me. Luckily, I can show that I have no complaints against me. So for me it stands in for a licensing board. (more) For me, I'm a professional, but there is no licensing board. So I use BBB as a way for people to submit formal complaints against me. What would make it better is to have a list of participants and what they do. then have a sign-up list to talk to particular people then have 5 minutes per person and rotate. However, that might make some people more popular than others, so to be more fair, have everyone meet with each other, like speed dating and just give them one or two minutes to meet and then after that have time for people to mingle after they have already had time to get an idea of what the other person does and how you can help each other out.  The other thing that was a problem when I tried it was that nobody's business or work was related in any way to mine, so I didn't see how we could help each other at all. I checked several networking groups and they all seemed to have the same type of people doing the same jobs. I think those people I need to meet, don't attend networking groups. I needed lawyers, funeral directors, private investigators, or bail bondsmen, but all I found were insurance salesmen, real-estate agents, other financial services, then trades, like a mechanic, siding installers, other construction type workers, and chiropractors. It didn't fit my needs.

It also lets you add numbers that aren't in it's database and it lets you record a message when it detected a telemarketer, so you can give them a robo-message back. It records those messages where the telemarkets tries to talk to you and so you can listen to them try to talk to your robot, just like they make you do. So, it can be a source of entertainment too.
