About Us
We are a contract chemical manufacturing and research organization. We provide high quality fine chemicals, organic chemicals and custom synthesis. We specialize in difficult-to-prepare organic chemicals which are used for high-tech applications in amounts less than 800 kg/yr. Often we provide a kilo or less. We also develop processes for a customer to go from a bench preparation to manufacturing. Our key trait is an unorthodox approach, with custom engineering. We frequently are the final contractor after others have turned our customer down.

Pay attention, people! When Trump applied all those tariffs, that increases what you pay by that much. It takes up to four years for that effect to filter through the system, so ignorant people blame the current administration. If you buy something out of Asia, you pay the cost and shipping, but then it is held in customs until you, the purchaser, pay the tariff to finally receive it. You turn around and increase the price to your customers. If you don't like the inflation, blame the guy who caused it. It is true that this protects American producers, but they respond by increasing their price. Tariffs always hurt the consumer for the benefit of someone else. Another four years of the same? Not for me.

We do a combination of contract research/chemical synthesis and kiloscale manufacturing of high-tech specialty chemicals. We started out 17 years ago just doing the contract work, but this dried up around 2008, so we added the manufacturing to survive. Since that time we developed four main manufactured products, with many more in the pipeline. To our chagrin all four main products have been suspended by their respective dedicated clients due to internal issues in their operations. Fortunately, during the same time period the contract work has come back with a vengeance, and we are able to shift our income stream to that. We use our contract work as the entry into manufacturing for a client, as manufacturing is always based upon an initial request for a difficult-to-make material that the client has been unable to find somewhere else. Our strength is working out how to make it, and how to make it in quantities useful to our client. Frequently, we are the very last company our customer comes to, having been turned down by other companies. We don't suffer from orthodox thinking, and we engineer and build the equipment that makes the chemistry work, so we have a leg up on all of our competition. We have had some hard times and some good ones, but our motto is that the only road to salvation is through success. We are pressing on our products in the pipeline, and looking to get more. Our products include specialty dyes, derivatized monomers, pharmaceutical intermediates, modified natural products, and much more, but the nature of the projects we'll take on is much wider than that.

We have a leg up on the competition because of what I bring to the table. Although chemistry is our business, that is also true for a lot of other companies. The answer to a chemical problem often isn't chemistry at all but lies in engineering or the fabrication of specific equipment to do a specific job within the process. I have training in glassblowing, metal fabrication, electrical engineering, design, and host of other areas which I rely on to create solutions that are not accessible to the average chemist. I build most of my company's equipment in my own fabrication shop, often specifically for a project. My career has also spanned everything from bench scale to process, and from physical organic chemistry, through medicinal chemistry, through ag chem, and finally to process chemistry. And besides, it's a passion, not a job.
