Montgomery Townsend Architecture and Design is a boutique, full service architecture firm based in Charlottesville, VA and Seattle, WA. We specialize in providing bespoke, thoughtful architectural projects ranging from custom and spec single family residences, multi-family residential projects, as well as instutional and commercial work.

Our previous experiences individually prior to founding Montgomery Townsend provided the opportunity to manage large scale architectural projects both in the US and abroad, and with budgets in excess of $150 million USD and upward of 1 million square feet.

Montgomery Townsend maintains professional licensure in Virginia, New York, and Washington in the United States, as well as professional membership in the AIA.

Founders Andrew and Steven met in architecture school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Not only did they instantly become friends, but found they had so much in common when it came to design. After spending countless hours together in studio, they also studied abroad together in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland, further refining their design aesthetic. Finally, after collaborating on a few projects, and working independently at different boutique firms for almost eight years, it was time to join forces for good. Andrew and Steven both bring unique and varied experiences from their past work and bring a collaborative approach to all projects using their experiences.
