About Us

The Bronzeville/ Black Chicagoan Historical Society is operated as a voluntary, open membership community group formed to provide information, education and participation in the preservation of the history and heritage of Blacks who live or have lived in Chicago.

The Bronzeville /Black Chicagoan Historical Society was founded in 1999 by a small group of enthusiastic Bronzeville history researchers. It was chartered as an Illinois educational and historical preservation organization May 23, 2002. The Society received not-for-profit 501 c 3 status in August 2003.

Bronzeville Historical Society preserves and celebrates Chicago's African American history and culture.
