Portrait Commissions
Your portrait is more than a work of art; it is a priceless heirloom that you will treasure more and more as the years go by. I make the portrait process easy and convenient. No live sittings are necessary. Instead, I paint from reference photographs that I take myself. I keep the photo session lively and fun, and limit it to two hours or less-especially when working with kids. Photos can be taken at your home or another location. Indoor and outdoor settings are both fine. After the photo session, we'll review the digital images and choose the very best for my painting reference.
As work progresses at the studio, I'll email photos of the developing painting. You’ll be fascinated to see how the likeness emerges, layer by layer. We are collaborators, and your feedback will be invaluable as I make the final adjustments that will bring the portrait to perfection.
Smaller paintings can be insured, crated, and shipped to you in time for your unveiling. Canvases over 30” x 40” require special handling and I prefer to personally deliver them.
24 x 30″ Quarter-length $3,000
30 x 40″ Half-length $5,000
36 x 48″ Three-Quarter $7,000
48 x 72″ Standing Full-length $16,000
I ask a 50% deposit at the start of the commission and the remaining 50% upon delivery of the completed painting. For group portraits, the above fees increase by 50% for each additional figure. Travel and shipping charges are additional and vary by state. Framing is recommended and priced according to style. I can assist you in selecting a frame design from Rochester Picture Framing: https://rochesterpictureframin... or another framer of your choice.
