You have to wear many different hats. Sometimes all at the same time. Be ready for hard work and long hours. If you want to get that rocket off the ground it will take a lot of your energy and time. However, having said that it is also very rewarding. Your friends will say wow now you are your own boss. This is far from the truth. Your customers are now your boss. It is important to note that you will always be walking a very fine line between family and business. You don't want to lose either of them. Support from your family is very important. If starting your own business was easy everyone would be doing it. Remember failure is not an option. Business is a journey and life experience. Enjoy the ride.

I have in the past. I had to leverage my receivables against the loan. The Con on that is you have to keep your receivables strong or run the risk of having your note called early. For my Company, it worked well. Never pledge your personal assets.

I issue them a credit limit. If they are not meeting their credit terms I lower their credit limit. So next order they will have to pay their past due. If I am not getting paid there is no good reason to continue working with them.
