In our industry, especially with us being a much smaller company than most, we have super slow months. Funds run low and we automatically turn to collecting receivables and pushing harder in sales. In this kind of scenario, we ALWAYS push harder for collections, cut back on some of our office expenses ( ex: we didn't order extra printer paper for the month, instead of making 2 orders for office supplies for the month, we only ordered 1, etc.), that kind of thing. Delaying paying bills or getting a loan/borrowing money only makes the situation harder in the long run. We have done a side hustle before. Bake sales, parking lot parties, and pot lucks have helped us cover some of our little expenses in the past, AND they are great little marketing tool to help get your name out in the community.

In our industry, business cards are a huge deal.
We even have specific business cards for our crew members to hand out to potential customers, if they are approached at a job site.
Word of mouth has been one of our best advertising tools. We do a lot of referral based business. Our customers love our products and work so much that they just have to tell their friends!!
