I have purchased paintings with the hope that they may appreciate in value. I price my paintings with appreciation in mind and specifically keep the pricing consistent to insure that collectors “investment” is protected.  The possibility that my work may benefit collectors, as an investment, is not totally within my control but I appreciate that I have a responsibility to price the work consistently.

My general view of social media is, that although I see the value, it is almost like another full time job to be active in it. I think there is a learning curve related to using the social media scene to ones advantage. I’m not sure if I’ve mastered it yet.

I would probably give cards or a print to someone who purchased more than one of my paintings or who sent people my way, if the individuals bought a piece of my work. I do give a price adjustment when one buys several pieces in a series. I think it depends on the frequency in which it occurs, whether or not I would consider a commission on a sale.

Regarding the process of “Closing the deal”. I cannot say that I have a tried & true way of doing that.  I believe that selling art is very much a matter of developing relationships. It is also a matter of continued interaction and can, on average, require 9 contacts with interested collectors... (more) Regarding the process of “Closing the deal”. I cannot say that I have a tried & true way of doing that.  I believe that selling art is very much a matter of developing relationships. It is also a matter of continued interaction and can, on average, require 9 contacts with interested collectors before they make a decision to buy. The key is to always think in terms of “What I can do for you” not “What you can do for me”
