Aquaculture Technician Diploma Program
This 26 week program has been leading the Aquaculture Industry in training since 2011. Ideal for individuals seeking employment or advancement within the Aquaculture Industry. The program includes Basic computer skills needed for future advancement and all Industry certifications required on the job under the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) policies. Certifications include WHMIS, CSA, TDG, SVOP, MED-A3, ROC-M, Marine First Aid/CPR and Forklift Operator. After learning about The various types of positions within the industry, students learn Biology of Salmonids, Shellfish, Feeding & Nutrition, Health & Husbandry, Farm and Hatchery Operations and Maintenance. Following completion of all classroom modules (including numerous field trips and hands on lessons such as dissection of fish and shellfish and water sampling, testing, students attend a practicum placement where they put their new skills to work.
