What are important things to consider when sending referrals?

I think having the same types of business practices as I do both Ethically and morally or just treating people the way that you would like to be treated. I only refer people to those who have the same types of standards that I do as far as how I treat my customers... every client is important, every opinion counts, no gesture goes unnoticed. The homebuying process can be an emotional roller coaster (I’m a realtor) you have to be willing to be there for the people emotionally and as a guide in the process as they go hand-in-hand.

I agree with you that home buying is one of the most important and sometimes the biggest decision that a person will do and it brings on stress and emotion.
I truly believe this should be a great experience for the customer and not just transaction. I am a Mortgage Planning Professional for the past 20 years. My goal is 100% that every client have a great experience and that can only happen when take the time to truly understand the customer short and long term goals. When you are align with customer goals the outcome is awesome! This can mean referring them to business partner that can provide them the service they need. Yes, we must do a better job getting to know each other on some personal and the service we offer. I understand its easy not to referrer someone because we just don't know what can happen and you do not want to be associated with outcome.
Have you consider by not referring them it's just as bad? You gain there trust and they are looking to us for advice to help them make the right inform decision. I truly feel it's our responsibility to assist them and having business partner that look at each customer from a holistic approach that's partner I would want. I know it's not easy, but we must try to seek them out.
