The three keys to successful marketing are Consistent, Repetitive, Distribution of your advertising message.  Always maintain a Consistent look in everything you do in order for your message to become recognizable at a glance.  Your name, your logo, your website, Facebook and everything you print... (more) The three keys to successful marketing are Consistent, Repetitive, Distribution of your advertising message.  Always maintain a Consistent look in everything you do in order for your message to become recognizable at a glance.  Your name, your logo, your website, Facebook and everything you print should maintain the same consistent look.  In order to brand your business into the minds of your potential customers, you have to make it Repetitive.  You have to keep your name and message in front of your potential customers over and over to make your business recognizable at a glance.  Deciding who your best potential customer is will help you determine what and where to Distribute your advertising message.  Then keep repeating your Consistent message over and over again to the same audience.  Most potential buyers must see your message an average of 9 - 12 times before they will make an actual purchase, so don't move your message from one medium to another after a couple of tries thinking that didn't work, so let's try something different.  If you do, you just wasted your investment and will continue to do so until you, unfortunately, decide that advertising doesn't work.  Advertising does work when you know how to work it. I see a lot of the answers here touting online marketing and it is an important part of your marketing you need to be doing, but realize that today the average person's 8-second attention span is shorter than a gold fish's.  The internet is very noisy and every brand vying for consumer attention knows it.  The amount of content consumers see every day online is overwhelming.  The only way brands can break through this noise is to differentiate.
