While I was working as a veterinary technician in 2003 client was in tears because they could not find somebody to take care of their senior pets while they were away. I offered to fill the need and it quickly took off into a full time business.
As I networked with other pet sitters I learned about professional organizations such as Pet Sitters International. P.S.I. certification boosts animal care knowledge and business acumen. Also certified in animal CPR & first aid through The American Red Cross and Pet Tech. I have worked in veterinary hospitals, cattery management for a breeder, Animal welfare cattery, volunteered in disaster relief for Alley Cat Allies after hurricane Katrina evacuation in Louisiana. Other volunteer work includes trap, neuter and return in Danbury, feral cat colony management and networking, foster pregnant queens, kittens and friendly cats until successful adoption.
