While authoring book reviews for New Realities Magazine in the late 1980’s, Erin collaborated with other seminal thinkers to co-found Elysium Wellness Center, serving as its Clinical Program Director for 14 years.

In 1996, this 501-c3 Interdisciplinary Therapy and LMFT Intern Training Program received The 1996 Santa Cruz County Non-Profit Sustainable Quality Award for its innovative East/West MindBody Project. Elysium was a precursor of current “state of the art” Trauma Informed/Evidence-Based Mindfulness Models aimed at Increasing Intentional Self-Regulation.

Elysium was also Regional Coordinator for Spiritual Emergence Network’s international organization - another Transpersonal non-profit which worked with luminaries like Stan Groff and Ram Dass - and helped Elysium to offer many hours of clinically required experience for Trainees and Interns from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, JFK University’s Holistic Studies Program, and the Institute for Integral Studies.

How We Got Started

At age 18, in the early 1970’s, my first involvement with community mental health was volunteering at a suicide and walk in crisis center called The Bridge.

As a grad student, then while/after completing my requirements for LMFT licensing, I worked on a county funded inpatient ward, as a Senior Supervising MH Clinician within several other public mental health settings, and for private organizations like Family Service Association - all during an era when the entire mainstream emphasis was on “behavioral health” and pharmaceuticals.

In 1990, seeking to “put some Soul back into Psychology”, I co-founded and became Clinical Program Director at Elysium Wellness Center - an interdisciplinary, Transpersonal non-profit healing/intern training program.

I also served 10 years as the “depth-psychotherapist” at TotalCare - another Interdisciplinary Medical Treatment Center in Palo Alto, CA, founded by pioneering Stanford psychiatry professor, Alan Brauer, MD.
