The passion and love of what I do after 42 years keeps me going. Survived recessions, building-code issues, divorce, hurricanes and never thought of doing anything else. Along the way the business has adapted to the market so much that the product mix and tech. today is completely different from what it was just 15 years ago. My pleasure comes from making products to enhance communications which these days is almost like saying Life. Money and big profits were never my main focus however these days thats more important for sure. My overall advice is to just do what you love in a business, and you will become the master of it and be better than anyone else at it. never focus only on the end-profit, but you must enjoy the "ride" that gets you there.

Here in Miami I run an ad in Craigslist. I might need assemblers or extra warehouse help sometimes. We get a flood of responses for $9-10 hr pay. The problem is filtering out the talkers who say they can do anything (but cannot) just to get in the door. The other problem is few have work permits...

The problem is filtering out the talkers who say they can do anything (but cannot) just to get in the door. The other problem is few have work permits and no one speaks/reads English we might need to look up parts in the computer or check BOMs. Out of 25 callers, we interview 10 and may hire 4 and after 2-4 weeks have 1 or 2 left!
Ive never added machine expenses into a product, unless its a custom tool/machine for one specific product or customer. Recent tax deduction changes let me expense a machine/instrument/tool up to a much higher max than before. Before, it was a fixed asset to be depreciated for the tax deduction....
