I found out I am as smart and resourceful as anyone I ever worked for, I control my schedule and I am taking on roles that I could never get promoted into. I treat my customers like royalty. I get to try solutions and ideas that a typical boss would be too squeamish to contemplate. To be sure, it’s scary as heck, because if I fail or let someone down, I go down alone, but that’s also part of the thrill. It keeps me on my toes and forces me to work my hindquarters off.
