I belong to a referral group that meets weekly and this not only allows me to pick up new business but it also gives me a sounding board to explore new ideas or problems that may come up.  This also gives me a wealth of resources that I can recommend to clients I am working with. What I miss most was the service because a lot of the clerks were family or friends. Now all the local department stores are gone and they have a Walmart.  Yuk!!!!

I have a company listed for sale and their CPA had done a terrible job with their financials.  I started doing their accounts payable and also making sure the credit card payables were correct.  I was actually sending entries to the CPA to get the financials correct.  I was able to do this... I also work with potential sellers to give them suggestions on how to increase the value of their business before they list it.  Thanks, Francis Brewer.

(more) Francis Brewer with First National Business Corp. When we have a potential buyer for one of our businesses we have listed, that decides  after they has reviewed the financials and other pertinant data not to make an offer we always call the potential buyer back to find out why they decided not to. In some cases it is an issue that we can make them comfortable with and they may take a second look.   In the event it is someone wanting to list with us but decides this is not the time to move forward, I follow up with an email every three months and at the end of six months I call them to see if anything has changed.  We also have potential listings that tell us they are not looking to sell right now so I put them in a data base and I send them a letter each year to see if anything has changed and keep my name in front of them.
