How We Got Started

Our passion is to empower and educate both our clients as well as smaller business that work in our industry. We started so we could address the deficiencies and poor customer service relations we saw between contractors and homeowners. It is essential to earn our clients trust in the process. Along the way we have met many smaller businesses than us, that struggle due to lack of information, education and resources. We feel blessed that our combined experience allowed us to have the ability to build the business by we recognize there were challenges and struggles that can be avoided - so we align ourselves to mentoring business with values for integrity and a passion for construction and people.

We are members of NARI and several other local organizations such as Chambers of Commerce.  What we are hoping is that trades will be seriously reviewed so that perhaps even introductions in 8th grade grammer school and trades back in high school can be brought back. Not everyone is meant to have a white collar desk job but kids do not know that unless they are presented with options. So let's speak up and continue to work together to re-build and bring back integrity to our industry. There is NOTHING wrong with working with one's hands and there are tons of people that excel at it but society sends the message that white collar jobs are what they should aim for.

A true mentorship is free fellowship. If you have to pay for it, you should wonder if they are telling you what you want to hear or dragging it out. Form a small network and give as much free advise as you need and see what happens. Blessings! (more) A true mentorship is free fellowship. (more) Like all small business owners, the first time we experienced this we felt hurt, surprised and frankly offended. Truth be told, we cannot please everyone and if you think you will, the devastation from a bad review will set you back.  We consider any mention, good, bad or indifferent (advertising). People researching through the internet that read reviews and or posts are smart people. When you have a negative review or comment, a smart client will be able to read through the post. We typically respond to all reviews and comments, however, there have been a handful of comments that simply did not deem a response and frankly not responding increased the traffic to our website and added clients. Not saying it works every time but people are smart, we need to give them credit for it. On the other hand, someone that believes a negative review or comment without even meeting us is not someone we would be interested in doing business with anyway. Why? Because they proved they are swayed by the wind and nothing we said or did would make them happy anyway.  So, rather than dread those reviews, take them with a grain of salt. If you did do something wrong - fix it. If you did not and the client was still not happy, thank them and move on. Blessings

As a husband and wife team, I (wife) do a lot of face to face with the clients and subcontractors and thankfully do not feel that has been the case. Here are a few things that I feel have helped me. 1) I read everything and anything that comes out in our industry. 2) I make sure I understand the process for a repair and or remodel - most people assume women do not know construction but that is just not true. There are TONS of actual trade women that are incredibly good at the actual work.  3) Ask questions - lots of questions. 4) If you don't know the answer, say I don't know the answer but I will find it out. 5) Find "what" it is you like about the industry and own it. If you don't have a passion for it, it will come across. Hope this helps. We may not work in the same state but we face the same challenges and we can all learn from each other. Reach out if you have any other questions. Blessings!

Discuss the day to day operation and the specific duties this role handles Discuss individuals strengths and weaknesses Obtain an overall view of home life (are there any unusual stressors during this season in their not life). As employers we need to be sensitive to our employees as individuals with a life and family outside our companies  Restructure to delegate some of the duties perhaps keeping in mind the strengths and weaknesses as people tend to perform better and joyfully when doing what they are strongest in Discuss a reduced work week for a set time Be open to some time off for the employee whether paid or unpaid depends on Company policies In short, be human, compassionate and get to know your employees. Not everyone will be a fit but those that are are worth investing in.

Some of the reasoning for this is 1) getting to know the "person" will allow to see behind the veil of the "working persona"; 2) personality conflicts or communication concerns can be identified upfront; 3) the service or product will speak for itself IF the person we are working with works with integrity which will be reflected in the quality of their work and communication. Networking in the business sense can seem like the speed dating for match making. How much do you really benefit from a "short and brief" pitch to make a life long decision? We prefer to take more time to get to know our associates, subcontractors, vendors and clients. Construction is competitive, messy, dirty and noisy - if we get along the day goes much smoother!
