Hello, Thank you for the question! Most of those dental plans are only "discount dental plans" they do not cover for any dental services. You pay every time you go the dentist. It is at a reduced rate, but you always pay. As for marketing or expectations, what I have dealt with, there is no payment from any of those plans to our office. We accept the plans because we are in network with the traditional dental insurance, and that is a branch of the traditional plan. However... My doctor, offers an in house plan for his patients. There is an annual fee but you get 2 free exams, 2 free cleanings, 2 sets of bitewing xrays and a full mouth xray each year. For dental treatment ( fillings etc ) there is a discount of 20%. If you look at the discounted dental plans, there is an annual fee, plus you have to pay discounted rates at every visit. ( This can be from $77-$150, every visit) After Dr. Andy reviewed most of the discounted plans, he fine tuned his plan. So, there are options for you and those patients who don't have dental insurance. Sorry, for the length of the answer, it is difficult trying to explain plans vs. insurance.
