Our knowledgeable and experienced staff is dedicated to helping you access these essential services, including Home and Community Support Service (HCSS) and Structured Day Program (SDP) as well as other specialized supports for individuals with a TBI. The coordinated application of these services will provide the foundation for the participant to reengage and live life with more self-confidence and an increased sense of productivity.
Personal Home Care Services
These specialized support services include assistance with bathing, toileting, light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication management, errands, safety oversight and supervision (this service is also available through other payment options; please contact us for additional information).
Structured Day Program
Community based social model program to provide socialization and skill building opportunities.
Jeffrey Winner, Structured Day Program Director: I received my general and students with disabilities teaching credentials in 2004 from NYS and Master of Science in Education in 2005 from the University of New England. I have had the privilege of working with the TBI Waiver Program for 12 years especially with the Structured Day Program as a focus of my work. I also have had experience with the NHTD Waiver Program in addition to OPWDD Group Day Habilitation and Family and Support Services Social Recreation Program with a considerable background with directing life skills training and behavioral services. These experiences corresponding with my special education and teaching background allows me to have a firm understanding of how to offer diverse resources to both individualized and group environments for the best outcomes that stresses independence and dignity. Joining an organization that embodies the philosophy of person-centered services is important and Compassionate Care of Central New York continues to strive to enforce this with each life they provide quality care for.
To be eligible to participate in the TBI Waiver program, an individual must be:
Diagnosed with TBI or a related condition.
Eligible for nursing facility level of care
Eligible for the Medicaid program
18-64 upon admission to the waiver program
Cindy Solomita, CEO: Is the founder of Compassionate Care. She knows first-hand the anguish a family must deal with when a loved one is the victim of a traumatic brain injury. Stephanie Goetz, President: I received my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from SUNY Albany in 2005. I have been working with Compassionate Care and individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries since 2008. I joined the company because of my personal interest in Traumatic Brain Injury. My sister sustained a TBI in 2000 so I have the unique perspective of understanding how it affects family members as well. I am a NYS Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
