Path Press, Inc. was formed in 1 961 and is the first Black-owned book publishing in the United States. Our first bestsellers were The Negotiations by Herman C. Gilbert, Brown Sky by David Covin To Benjii With Love by Mary Wilson.
How We Got Started
Close friends Frank London Brown, Herman C. Gilbert, Brenetta Howell Barrett and a few others decided that we could do better with our own company than Frank Brown had done with the firm that published his bestseller, Trumbull Park.
