In my business, there are always those who pay late. The old fashioned way by email or text. I remind them with on line instructions, copy of their NOC. Writing their account number and carrier phone number. They usually pay right away when I do this. I have some long standing clients who I...

In my business, there are always those who pay late. The old fashioned way by email or text. I remind them with on line instructions, copy of their NOC. Writing their account number and carrier phone number. They usually pay right away when I do this. I have some long standing clients who I make payment for and I take care of it for them monthly. This can take a little bit of time but not a huge amount and much better than losing an account and having to pay back commission.
I’ve rarely lost a client through nonpayment of premium. I think this accounts for my excellent client retention versus a large agency. I don’t usually have my staff take care of this because I think it matters that the President takes the time to do this. I’m sure this job usually gets delegated. personal service counts.

It’s not so complicated do you like them do they like you? Do you respect them do they respect you? Go with your gut. Sometimes the most competent people are the most difficult to work with Look for a little eccentricity. I did that and it’s been wonderful. Four years and counting.
