Dear Publisher on Pause, I, too, offer my deepest sympathies for your loss. I lost my CPA father 17 yrs ago and my husband 9 yrs ago, so I understand the struggle. While I believe many have posted some great ideas for you to consider, as a tax professional, my first advice for you is to visit with yours. I have counseled many a client in your situation of the importance of budgeting, understanding tax consequences of renting rooms in your home and discussing the viability of continuing your business. We can help you with long term planning (and of course the tax consequences associated with it) in order for you to map out a clear path to achieve your goals and not get hit unexpectedly with a high tax bill. I also agree that legal help is needed - I also offer Legalshield memberships which give you access to a law firm for a low monthly price - to assist you in navigating these waters or any other life events that may arise and give you peace of mind. If you don’t currently have a strong relationship with your tax accountant or just want another opinion. I’m here to help. Wishing you all the best!
Worst player on a winning team. Winners lead by example and if they are winning, I won’t be “worst” for long. Winners pick team members who have potential to be winners. It’s all about Mindset. I’d rather be in the position of growth than be the winner in a team of losers. It’s like trying to...

I’d rather be in the position of growth than be the winner in a team of losers. It’s like trying to push string uphill! Unless you have team members who are willing to have a winning mindset, you might as well fire them all and start over!!
While I’ve never been described as introverted, I find it fascinating that SO many Uber-successful people describe themselves as naturally introverted!

I disagree a bit with Sofi but understand her point - it can be difficult to have your feet in 2 boats. However, the B2B sales skills you are practicing will actually help you in your independent Consultant biz as well. Depending on the company you’ve partnered with as an independent consultant, they each usually have some sort of personal development program available. And any leader in that company that you can identify or resonate with, is usually open to doing some coaching or mentoring.
Love all the comments on joining a network - it’s all about expanding your comfort zone.
Best mentors to listen to:
Darren Hardy (Free podcasts & daily messaging)
Jim Rohn (find him on YouTube)
Napolean Hill/Earl Nightingale are classics as well
Best of luck to you on your success journey!

Dear Exhausted & Determined - very fitting, by the way - ;)
I took over my father's CPA practice when he passed away 17 years ago today. In the 7 months prior to that event, I moved back to Texas to help him with his tax practice. Although I had experience and was a degreed accountant, I hadn't been working in the tax arena in quite a few years. Because my dad was unable to come to the office with me and with a deadline looming for corporations - I reached out to a group he attended for continuing education - a CPA study group. I went to their meeting to find out if any other CPA's were using the same software. When I found one who did, I asked if we could hire him to complete the returns - he was kind enough to offer a professional discount for his time. I was able to also call him or hand off other more complicated returns until my father was well enough to return to the office. The beautiful thing was that when he did pass away a few months later, that CPA remained a friend and mentor to me to this day.
So my suggestion for you is to look to your colleagues or other professionals in your industry that you may have relationships with. I know that as professionals it is hard to bring in others (and train them) when you aren't able to do the work. Sometimes bringing in other professionals - even if you have to give up a piece of the revenue is better than risking the reputation of your craft.
Best of luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery!!
All the best,
Benita
