RANNI LAW FIRM
We provide experienced and compassionate legal representation and guidance in the areas of Elder Law, Disability Law, and planning to avoid nursing homes. Our planning is focused upon clients living in the most appropriate environment with maximum independence and appropriate services. There are methods to preserve resources and assets despite what may be a significant acute or chronic condition.
We also provide guidance and intervention for clients in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living, including compelling discharge or increased care and assistance through the end of life. Of course, our services include Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, Wills, Trusts and other legal powers to accomplish the goals of independence and facilitate the assistance as may be necessary.
An informed client requires an understanding of the important decisions to be made and providing choices among the methods to accomplish the mutual goals of client and family. A lawyer's job is to navigate through a sometimes complicated system to achieve the client's personal wishes and goals.
Please call my firm at (845) 651-0999 for a consultation if we can be of assistance.
Thank you for your consideration,
Joe Ranni
I began my career as an Insurance Defense attorney in NYC and doing pro bono disability rights discrimination litigation. When I began private practice on Wall Street in the mid-90s, discrimination litigation became my concentration with a particular focus in disability while also continuing significant pro bono activities with non-profit advocacy groups.
There are symmetries between the challenges of disability and age. In essence, age of onset or type of disability is mostly irrelevant in addressing the needs of mental health and functional limitations. The segmentation created by the deinstitutionalization of State Hospitals in the 70s and the subsequent development of Nursing Homes for older adults seems contradictory to the principles and goals of independence and the Least Restrictive Living Environment.
I obtained my Masters of Law Degree In Elder Law (LL.M.) for the purpose of using disability rights on behalf of older adults to plan for and maximize quality of life.
