What's something that seems obvious within your profession, but the general public seems to misunderstand?

I find that, nowadays, many businesses underestimate the importance of presenting customers with clear, concise, and engaging content. From a marketing perspective, presenting your business in the most professional manner possible seems obvious, but poorly written collateral and content filled with errors does just the opposite. Social media seems to have introduced the belief that grammar and spelling no longer matter as long as you know the proper emoticons, abbreviations, acronyms, and slang to use. However, marketing materials are often the first thing your customers see when they're looking for a new company to provide them with a product or service. Error-ridden content can not only make your business seem less professional but also be the determining factor for those potential clients. Error-free, engaging content really makes your business stand out above the competition.
