Are Shuttle/Taxi/Shared Car Ride Companies Feeling the COVID-19 Pinch?

What is sad is that the Government shut us down. I have written two letters to the Governor and two letters to our Senator and yet to get an answer as to what reopening is to look like and will we have different rules. Now you would think after three months that they would have some kind of handle on this, but when we made a phone call to the CDC and the Health Department, they had no clue because we were in such a unique business. Really that is your answer? 

When you lose 99 percent of travel,weddings,proms etc you have no business. It is a complete devastation of all transportation industries. 

Thank you for asking although my answers to you after 27 yrs are going to be a little different. Right now there are no guidelines put in place by the State or Federal interests on our rules doing local business. 

The State Subways and buses can survive anything since they are paid by both mine and your taxes whether I'm in or out of work.

As for staying on the road and deal with Insurance companies and refunds, I think its not a value to the business, until the Corona Pandemic is lifted. 

Til then clients can book and cancel and refunds expected that could be the money for your insurance. 

All in all there is not fair. Several companies are awaiting contracts whether it be weddings for next year and take their deposits then use them to pay back this years clients and cover the insurance. The Federal government could keep printing money but is this going to continue.

Now not only do you have an unseen Virus, but now you could have an angry mob attack your business and accept stimulus checks at the same time. 

Basically shutting down til it is safe if feasible is probably the best.

I can't help but write, our business simply went flat from March 15, what used to be a stream of  emails, texts and calls just vanished. We took our time and navigated the last few reservations, while all reservations  canceled.    

What took us years of hard work to establish, maintain and what we truly loved to do 7 days a week.... simply gone.... endless early morning and late night work hours seems like so long ago. 

I hope business will return.... I just wonder when?

Yes, my business has been  effected by COVIN19. The number of people calling for service has dropped by at least 80%, sometimes it may be higher. People is very skeptical and/or cautious about meeting new people or trying situations that are not familiar to them. I still get inquiries but so far no followup.

We are in freight transportation rather than people transportation but Ore state OSHA person did say that 3' distancing is fine so people can ride in the same vehicle. Our business is down 30% from last year but seems to be back up the last week or so however somewhere in the chain some are trying to drop our rates to where we can't afford to run - we know it is not our direct customers - could it be the brokers?

Our shuttle service completely stopped on March 10th.  Until groups are allowed to gather we will have to remain shut. We are not alone in this...wedding venues, DJ's, caterers, florist etc....thoughts and prayers to you all

Yes it has effected us drastically...!! We have depended on the cruise industry and tourists coming to Cocoa Beach to keep our business going. We have had a few of our regulars that are still traveling but no where near what we use to do. Looking forward to it coming back.

While they were not forced to shut down. Ride share companies are delivering take out food to people who do not want to curbside pickup. Every segment of business has been impacted by Covid 19. Since people were asked to shelter in place and all non essential businesses were shut down ride sharing, taxi and limos are all severely impacted. The airlines are severely impacted but they could use passenger aircraft to transport emergency medical supplies.
