In the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Montclair Town Council is in the process of passing a Rent Control ordinance. Despite a written promise from Mayor Jackson to me that it would not be on the March 24th agenda, the Council went ahead and passed a first reading of the ordinance at that meeting. 

It is our understanding that the Council intends to move this ordinance forward at the next meeting on April 7. It has become very obvious that the Council intends to pass this ordinance at a time of great upheaval and with essentially no input from the Montclarions themselves.

I am working with a group of owners who are opposed to the underhanded manner in which the Council is acting. We are working to get this ordinance delayed, at the very least, if not thrown out entirely.

To do so, we need to demonstrate to the Council that there is a large number of Montclarions who would like to be heard on this issue. We have an online petition which I would like you to sign and pass along to others who want to have a voice in this issue. Here is the link:
