Engineers, what technology/IT issues do you struggle with most?

I'd like to learn a bit more about the engineering industry and was curious about what IT/technology issues engineers struggle with most. Is it not having enough computer memory? Being on the phone with software vendors for too long? Having issues accessing shared drives? These are just educated guesses of mine, but I'd like to learn more from you!

I would suggest that you find I.T. Services through a Managed Service Provider in your area. Their goal would be to assist you with being proactive to these types of things. A good MSP should help you to plan your I.T. needs in advance so that your company can properly budget for these expenses. Most MSP's would have multiple service offerings that would include monitoring your computer hardware, warranty, and issues that pop up. They would provide sound recommendations on how to protect your sensitive company data as well. You should always compare the cost of an I.T. Service provider (MSP) to what it would cost your company if you were down for an extended period of time.

Just my two cents, but I am bias.

I usually struggle with slow internet speed on opposite ends.  This tends to slow down the work.  Most of the IT business is remote, and faster speeds are needed.

I can give you my .02. I have clients that are mechanical and electrical engineers. In my experience, especially if they are an Autocad user... performance. Alot of companies and individuals will go the "cheaper" option for their desktop and server. Being that engineer apps are so resource intensive this is always a bad idea. Spend the money on higher spec'd server and workstations.

emails clogging up my computer... and suppliers with booking engine problems they cannot seem to fix and then blame us the consumer... Air Canada comes to mind with their booking engine problems causing numerous headaches for all of us...

Troubleshooting.  Finding the root cause of the problem.  The faster one can determine the root cause, the faster time to resolution.

Well my problem is I have the source. But like I have difficult problems. Like not meeting up with members of the corporation. Like not turning in my projects. It's all in. One to complicated. Just how I developed a platform that sends messages to other corporations about my work it's like a portal inside a gateway work and put it in one memory im still developing the open source. Its a free software foundation. I use Java Script, GitHub,android,Adobe firebase, tensorflow, office 365, I'm a Google developer for Google. It's based on Microsoft but it's hard cause I barely started and it already meet international and national levels. It's all digitally signed up for. It's basically a win win situation. Big techs and corporation are signed into my formate. It's more than AI & IA put together it has vertual 360, 3d, it's a hybrid technology basically it's more about not having support and enough money to put into my projects. I do it all on my phone. It's my connection there useing. I been wanting a computer. To finish my software. And it's almost that time for gamers. But like I said no support. moneys my main problem. All I need to do is go to a test lab for a phone check up. So if it qualifies for the new development All I gotta do is turn in my platform.

I would add expensive Internet connectivity being one of the major services a company needs to monitor because without it, most of that technology is not going to work.

With practically everything moving onto the Internet, knowing when, where, why and with whom Internet issues are can help a lot. Knowing if problems are at your location alone or if others in the area are experiencing similar issues could save everyone a lot of time and money.

Having been both an ISP and an MSP in the past, we found that customers would often contact us first when their Internet connected technology stopped working and due diligence meant we would sometimes spend hours making sure that everything was working as it should be. Most of the time, the problems were with the Internet.

We developed our solution so that both the customers and MSP could quickly assess situations and know if problems are at the customer location, with the provider, up and down the street, a section of town even which providers are involved. Alerts can be sent out about low bandwidth, outages, disconnections and trends and historical information show the bigger picture.

No more guessing during or after events and best of all, no finger pointing.

We have both a free service www.outages.io and a business service which offers many more features, www.echonets.com.

Ask your MSP if they are using our service and if not, we have an eval program to demonstrate how it can help them and their customers.

It also sounds outta this planet cause your dealing with an abnormal computer more like a magnet type also" Maintain workforce skills developing IT environment retain the IT talent needed to accomplish." Sounds about right.

If I say it's them doing all the movement. than they get mad. If I say it's me than everything else is okay.
