Great program for the right client. Always make sure it is a good fit before taking the leap and know when you need to use an add on product to fill gaps or improve work flow.
The online version is quirky and not as reliable as the desktop version. With the advent of cloud based record retention I find it remarkably easy to back up Desktop QB files to the cloud as it provides access to client data regardless of location provided there is an internet connection.
There are other write up programs such a Client Accounting Suite from Thompson Reuters, and Client Write up from Walters Klower that I use. I found based no one package does everything for everyone so identifying the accounting program best suited may take some time but well worth the effort.
I prefer the desktop version because it is much more user friendly & customizable. The only thing I appreciate the online version for is 24/7 access to my clients fully updated accounts.
We do not use Quickbooks online...find it very awkward and not a good package..We use the regular Quickbooks that you buy at the store....for all our client base...
The desktop is best for productivity and flexibility, but you can't beat the remote access when more than one person from different locations need access. It is the best online accounting software I have used thus far.
QB is good for small businesses but very limited in reporting and ability to find information. I also have a concern about the ability to go back and change transactions. Once a business gets to the point where the owners need to have someone else doing the accounting, I think it's better to get a more robust and secure accounting program. PowerGPOnline or Acumatica are two options that provide easy access, robust features and good reporting.

Both Desktop and Online have their advantages. QB online has greatly improved over the years and the interface is easy to navigate. Because it can be directly connected to your bank accounts, can be very overwhelming for a beginner. This leads to double entries. If a client travels or has multiple people logging in from different places, it is great. I also like the Online Accountant feature. The different levels of online can be confusing if the user doesn't have enough knowledge to choose. I tell my clients all QuickBooks do the same thing. Bookkeeping doesn't change.

Delay sync between QB and the bank. Weak product management (Inventory).
I prefer using QB Desktop
Hello. I didn't prefer QBs online because it was not very easy to use & your information is not easily accessible.
