Can anyone offer tips or advice on becoming a licensed Home Inspector?

You need a two-pronged attack - Realtors, as previously mentioned, plus banks, savings and loans, credit unions. Many times they will request inspections before handing out loans. Another option is home owners getting ready to sell "By Owner". Not sure of how you get that list. Maybe at a place that sells signs...

Edward Robinson is my home inspector. Shadow him to learn and ask for referrals from his overflow that he can’t handle.

A license may be required.  It depends on the regulations in your State.  ASHI is the gold standard in inspector training and certification.  As for getting business from Realtors... there are no new tricks.  Join the local Board of Realtors, go to meetings and meet people, hand out business cards, visit real estate offices (bring bagels), etc, etc.

Attend Real Estate Networking events and meet as many Realtors as you can

Hi John, a license is not required, but a certification through ASHI or InterNACHI would be advisable.  ASHI is the oldest inspector organization and requirements to complete certification require more "practical" experience.  InterNACHI is the largest inspector organization and is more academic in nature.

The core Home Inspection classes (90-Hour, 40-Hour, and 200-Hour) are all completed online. The interactive class and ride along sessions are completed at a Champions School. of Real Estate

In order to become a Professional Inspector, one of the following requirements must be met in addition to completing the core classes:

• 24-Hour interactive class and 40-Hour ride along experience courses
• Three years as an active licensed professional engineer, engineer-in-training, or licensed/registered architect (provide a license history)
• Five years personal experience in a field directly related to home inspecting (provide two reference letters from persons other than applicant with personal knowledge of applicant's work)
  

I started to years ago then they changed the requirements.

I don't sell homes. Your focus should be on the realtors. You can also become a member to 1 of many investor groups.
