Are you seeing more extended stays in one spot? What other benefits have you seen from local and domestic travel?

We bought this (lovely) southern Vermont B&B Feb 28th of this year (😳). We got two weeks, then had to close for two months. Since reopening end of May, we've seen many more short 1 day stays, booked very close to the time of stay. We're over 50% below prior year's bookings, unfortunately. We also haven't been eligible for the grants other Vermont inns have gotten because the terms exclude LLCs that began after 2/14/20.
We're a small, 6 room inn with vast gardens and miles of trails around the river directly behind the inn. Two of our rooms have private entrances directly to the outdoors. Social distancing is super easy, we're fully masked, and our eating areas are all well spaced. In each room (and throughout the common areas)we provide complimentary masks and personal hand sanitizers. We've added individual coffee/tea stations to each room for additional safety. Guests have told us they feel very safe at the inn, which is great. You can't relax if you don't feel safe.
We've been fortunate in both the wonderfulness of the guests who have stayed and the rave reviews they've been leaving; we just need more of them, for longer stays :). Although this is a hard time to have ventured into this business, and our finances are dire, every day we feel lucky to have such a beautiful, amazing home and town to live in and to share with those who stay here. We're also happy that we're in a position to help fortify/rebuild the town in ways we never could as just residents. Brattleboro is such a gem.
As a Corporate Housing Provider we have had an upward swing in business in the last 2 months. Productions and Companies are telling their people not to stay in hotels. My option comes with a full size, fully accessorized kitchens, you have your own washer & dryer and a work area. We also see people not wanting to be in the high rise buildings in town but are asking for Mid-rise and Garden Style apartments on the edge of downtown or in the suburbs.
Yes; business has slowly returned since late August ... yet no where near pre-Covid. More of our bookings are now 2-4 nights - a good change from pre-Covid 1-3 nights. We are already fully booked for Thanksgiving week and Christmas week.
We have had higher occupancy this summer than in 25 seasons. Cleaning after checkout takes much longer with the disinfecting of the Inn due to our Covid-19 protocols. Our returning guest rate is over 25%, so we are seeing many "old" guests we might not have seen for awhile We have many new guests who have not stayed in a "real bed and breakfast" before and our guest demographic is younger than ever. The length of stays are longer now, at least a 2.5 night average stay. We're doing our 4-course breakfast with guests scattered around the Inn's common areas and that is working out great. So it's good news!
Since reopening June 26, our business has been very strong. This is due to the unprecedented measures the inn has taken to protect guests and staff; the lure of Lake Placid and the Adirondacks; our proximity to Albany and NYC/tri-state region; and the absence of any meaningful number of positive tests in the region.
Pre-Covid and now are night and day. Corporate travel, and sports teams which was our bread and butter, has virtually halted. We are near one third what we would be normally doing as far as occupancy goes with a vast majority of those guests being leisure travelers and long term stays. Unfortunately the rate is drastically less than pre-Covid as well. Meetings and events and weddings are almost nonexistent. We are surviving, but I wouldn't say thriving. I don't see 2021 being much better. From speaking with my clients, I think it will be 2022 before we see substantial increases in corporate travel and the sporting events will be limited. Hospitality and tourism has taken a huge hit in our area.
During the month of September, we saw an increase in travelers. I know that many are not travelling due to the virus which has caused lack of funds for pleasure and the fear of being infected by the virus. We have to offer more specials to those who are not afraid to travel and our city has to make it inviting for them to visit us. Hopefully, we will see more traffic in the near future.
Since COVID-19 has hit the world a lot of changes have occurred at the Champaign Country Inn & Suites by Radisson. Due to those changes we have closed the coffee station, pool area, and buffet breakfast but we still offer a hot breakfast To Go. Also, we have removed some of the items from the rooms and our employees are social distancing and wearing masks.
We are offering special promotion deals for customers during this pandemic so check-out Champaign Country Inn & Suites by Radisson.
With Covid we were down March to around May for a while and Actually we have done pretty good , it was decreased a lot, but has since gone up. Corporate travel and Construction workers , increased (3-4 night stays, and domestic and a few group travel to around 80-85 rooms. Now with fall we are doing around 35-40 rooms during the week (1-2 night stays. Weekend travel has increased us about 20-25 more. Quite a few extended stays also. Looking to slow down for the rest of the year.We have lost a lot of group travel. Hope like everyone else that 2020 will be better.
We have seen an increase in local travel. Country Inn & Suites Ithaca is located 1/2 way between NYC and Niagara Falls in the scenic Finger Lake Region. Our beautiful waterfalls and hiking makes this area a must see. Our hotel is within walking distance to Buttermilk Falls and we are pet friendly. See you in the Country.
