Typically, a business owner cannot pay themselves through payroll under an LLC. You would need to change your entity to a S-Corp or C-Corp, though I will advise you to talk to a CPA about this to go over your options as they are the experts.
As far as choosing the right payroll system, there are three main factors that you should consider:
-Customer Service: There are many different levels offered by companies, some just utilize 3rd party outsourced call centers while some have in-house dedicated support.
-Stability: Ensure that the company is financially stable or a recognized company. Payroll companies do occasionally go out of business and this can be a headache if you are a client of theirs.
-Technology: Even if you are not using fancy bells and whistles, you want a platform that is cloud-based. This gives you better security and ease of use.
If you want to give me a call this is my specialty. It is always better to talk over the phone. Paychex is the number 1 payroll company in the country. This is my personal cell phone (914)-584-7164 call or text me we have the best service. I can answer any questions you may have promptly, while finding ways to help cut costs for the business.
There are several options for that. I have several clients that pay themselves monthly and several that pay themselves quarterly. This way payroll taxes are being withheld on a regular basis and you don't get hit with a big number at the end of the year. This also helps with expenses for the company at the end of the year.
I am aware of several companies that supply you with the information, but make you do the work for yourself.
I set up an automatic transfer from my business account to my personal account for the same amount of money each week. Been doing it this way for almost 9 yrs. I have a bookkeeper that keeps me in line and all my taxes are paid on time.
Pay my quarterlies to the feds and state. Never a problem. When it comes to the end of the year, I have my CPA complete my taxes and I send in any additional monies owed on taxes.
Discuss this with your accountant / CPA. Be aware when to change or move to make a business entity change as you budget for your next business year.
It is important to know when to change your entity based on your business needs. Your profit to loss ratio plays an important part in this decision.
Question 2: What payroll system is best to use for small businesses?
Response: For small business (under 25 employees) without extra requirements (i.e. union dues, certified payroll reports, etc.), IFSP (intuit full-service payroll is a good option. IFSP charges a single base rate +4.00 per employee. IFSP processes employee direct deposits, deposit and files payroll taxes, produces and mails out the employee W2s at year end. Also the IFSP payroll details can be uploaded directly to your QB accounting system so you don't have to key all the details into your bank register. Make sure you include your check #s assigned to live checks. Payroll vouchers are issued to direct deposits which you can print and mail to your employees.
The down side is that for employees requiring live checks, IFSP only issues a check stub in QB style check format. This means you can order check stock from IFSP and use those checks to print out and sign your live payroll checks.
IFSP has great customer service agents backed up a good technical support group.
Just as you have to know when you should make an entity change, you should also know when you need to upgrade your payroll processes based on your business evolving needs.
Using the services of a small business consultant can help transit your processes as needed.

You should speak with your tax practitioner to determine what level of salary is appropriate. Your tax practitioner can help you calculate the salary amount that will benefit you the most, personally and the business. If you have software for your accounting and are comfortable processing the payroll you can do it in house. Mirelle Associates specializes in providing payroll services for small to mid-size companies. We would be happy to discuss your specific needs in more detail.
That absolutely depends upon how the LLC is taxed. I would definitely talk to a CPA to determine the best taxing alternative for your situation. If the owners make no election the IRS is expecting either a Schedule C or a Partnership (1065) depending upon if there is one or multiple owners. In both of those scenarios the owner takes distributions or guaranteed payments and not payroll. The LLC may be eligible to file a business entity election (IRS form 8832) to be taxed as a corporation and then file for the corporation to be an S or Small Business Corp (IRS Form 2553). In that case the owners now need payroll services. Of course I am going to recommend one of the great Payroll Vault offices located around the country.

Question 1: How should you pay yourself as an LLC
Response: Depends if you are LLC as a single member, partner or S-Corp.
The IRS doesn't clearly explain this point but this link may help: LLC - owner pay information.
