I loved your answers! Thanks all. As for me, upon awakening I...

-Meditate for about 5-10 minutes and be grateful for all I have

-Kiss my fur babies

-Stretch and drink a tall glass of water with lemon

-Go for a 20 minute walk with my sweet Roma (Jack Russell/Shih Tzu mix) my dog, not my husband, lol!

-Have breakfast

-Go over my list for the day's work (that I planned the night before)

-And...then go to work with a positive attitude..because I LOVE what I do!

Make it a great week everyone! :)

Mara, this is such an important question. I believe what you put in your mind in the morning creates the day you are going to have. So many enter their day with a sense of depression or anger they don't even know they have, because they start their day feasting on the news. The news medias are not about giving us a positive picture; they are designed to create an emotional reaction. This is the reason 10 years ago I created my Morning Minute. This is a very unique program I created to help you start your day with a positive thought to build on through the day. Every day (365 days a year) I send you a 60 second video email to your email inbox, which contains one of my philosophies of life and a point of wisdom to apply. Each month is a different topic; like this month the topic is "Controlling Stress," and each day is a different thought. Hey, go to my website, RichardFlint.com, click on the Morning Minute, and there is a 21 day free trial you can experience. Check it out and see the power it brings to your daily preparation. A day is not a happening; it is the result of the preparation you have done. The Morning Minute is a positive time of mental preparation.

I've found the most important thing for me is to become calm, turn my focus inward, and create space which allows me to tune into my intuition. To do that I do 30-60 minutes of meditation, followed by affirmations. Sets the tone, and helps me determine what my top 5 priority actions are for the day. After that it's all about execution.

I go to the bathroom, head downstairs and start making breakfast and packing lunches for my kids. I put the kettle on and drink tea while I get the day started.

What’s most important, in the context your talking about, is not restarting any negative experiences, conversations or thoughts from the day before. It can be difficult to buck the momentum of something that happened, or a long standing thought pattern, from the day before.

The key is to recognize a yucky thought or feeling when it surfaces and then intentionally deciding to move back into alignment internally and move forward from there choosing thoughts, ideas, conversations and actions that support your feeling good.

The first thing I  do when I wake up and take a few deep breaths, connect with the Higher Power, and envision my ideal client. I spend a few minutes imagining an interaction with my ideal client enjoying our time together in a coaching session.

When I wake up everyday, I breathe deep, Praise God for giving me another day. Go into my prayer closet for for about 15-30 min. Next gym clothes are on, grab my tennis shoes and go down into our home gym {so blessed for this}. I spend around an hour working out, lifting weights and cardio. I start my work day @ 10 am most days, although some days I start this routine much earlier. Great question....

I generally wake up to my alarm and meditate for a few minutes; reflecting on the day before and prepare for the day ahead. That preparation is usually clearing my mind of wandering thoughts, then "seeing" my day unfold in the most powerful way possible.

I then get dressed (do the usual) and head to the gym. My adult son and I usually work out together. THAT is a great way to start my day...on purpose.

Each morning begins with sitting up in bed and reviewing all the people and things that I am grateful for on my life.  Then some quiet meditation, listening to the world wake up to bring awareness into my morning.  Then I kiss my wife and tell her what I love about her and how lucky I am to have her on my life.  Sometimes she wakes up and has a hard time not smiling.   Then I feed our dogs and make tea before moving into whatever has been planned for the day.

While still in bed, I visualize my day with eyes closed.  Then I turn on the coffee, and sit for 10 minutes in a chair in my den or on outside deck weather permitting,  eyes open and visual focal point for about 10 minutes meditating.

It's personal time, gratitude practice before I place my feet on the floor. Meet my pets, start coffee and relax, hopefully read for an hour. Then I'm ready to go. Even with early start mornings, I prefer to get up earlier and keep my routine.
