To me Covid 19 is a stress test. Out of every stress test innovation emerges. The  challenge this time however is that this situation demands, not improvements but radical change in thinking and doing business.

The mood in business today is one of deep distress, with failing businesses and people generally in crisis mode. So at Swift we sell empathy, patience and understanding. These items are hot and fly off our shelves and customers come back for more. The good news is it cost nothing but keeps you in business a very long time.

We have recently established a business  consortium and invite you to take a seat at the table and share in our discussions on Business in the era of Covid 19. Our next roundtable is August 27. Send me a note at [email address] and I will send the link. Best of success.

As a solo business owner of a salon, nothing is predictable. People are either broke, afraid of getting services or just paranoid due to Covid-19. Marketing helps but people are also NOT getting as many services. The news is doom and gloom. Covid has really pushed people into thinking more about how they want to spend their dollars and how to be safe. Professionals working at home no longer need to look as professional because no one sees them. I am glad to be working in my own private space. I know my clients, New clients especially feel very safe. I think if we can get to the end of year....those who do not get enough biz between now and December will become a casualty of Covid-19. Best of Luck to anyone who owns a small biz.

Pet sitting has slowed down, but it should be picking up this fall, and especially during the holidays.

We have managed to recover the lost revenue and are slightly ahead of where we were YOY To 2019 at the current pace we will be 15-17% over 2019 final numbers

I have completely redesigned my website to make it easier for online shoppers to access my work securely. At the moment, I have my handcrafted metal jewelry online. I take appointments in my gallery, as always, for those who would like a more private viewing of my work, including my kiln-fired enamel paintings on copper. The typical First Friday monthly open house events, which have been packed with people in the past, are now reimagined to fit community guidelines for social-distanced safety. While I still host my events indoors, many artists are set up outdoors on the First Friday of the month, as long as the weather holds. In addition, I been hosting Facebook Live events, which have been super fun and well-received. As I make a lot of one-of-a-kind pieces, those are usually grabbed up during my Live events. I'm super happy that my customers still yearn for handmade items.

As someone in the crafting industry, my business has slightly increased via online ordering, but all in-person events had stopped due to space issues. I will be starting small group workshops and crops at a newly leased location that allows social distancing in the coming month. As I was just starting my business at the end of last year, my sales will be higher in Q4 this year and on-track with my plan.

Get ready in advance to boost your online presence to sell since online sales will be huge this year 🌿
