What's your local speciality?

As a travel agent, I always get asked about the best cuisines to find around town — just like Taunya Wolfe Finn says about New England's famous lobster. Do you have a local, sourced speciality you're particularly proud of?

Our Doberge Cake!! 6 thin layers of old fashioned butter cake filled with our original, 70 yr old recipe, choc custard filling. Then iced with smooth creamy cho buttercream and finished with a poured fudge icing. e also have small squares of the same for people traveling and wanting to taste the local fare. KC Origionals group are all area independent locally owned establishments - of course V’s Italiano is our favorite owned by our aunt Vita.

Bbq, Bbq, Bbq! Bbq is not only a go-to staple in the Lone Star State, it's a historic meal that harkens back to pioneers, and legendary trail drives.  I do not do a whole bunch of Bbq for my clients, but on my days off I love to load the pit and smoke beef and pork, filling the neighborhood and/or campsite with that delicious hickory, or mesquite smoke!

Recommended Bbq in the area:

-Franks in Ovilla

-Harris in Waxahachie

-Hutchins in McKinney

-Hard Eight in Roanoke

-Pecan Lodge

Ps-Taco's and Fajita's are a close second!

I always seek out local chefs with their own independent restaurant. Phoenix has many around the Valley that serve all different types of cuisines. As for us, we have popcorn flavors that speak to our region: Sonoran Blend, Sedona Blend, Phoenix Blend, Scottsdale Blend, and several spicy and not-so-spicy flavors.

Here in Santa Fe we are famous for our red and green chile.

We literally specialize in everything that can be grown in Quebec and Ontario: Fiddleheads and asparagus, wild blueberries and gooseberries. We have field grown and hothouse produce; conventional, or organic. We have everything!!!!!

Our mission is to find our customers everything on our price list no matter the time of year or the weather.

When I think of Chicago, I think of Italian Beef Sandwiches, or a combo, which is the Italian Beef with Italian Sausage, and all the ways you can order it.....green peppers or hot giardiniera peppers (which are also from Chicago) dipped, double dipped, or add red sauce and some mozzarella cheese and have them bake it.... really the whole key is the tender, thinly sliced beef, perfectly seasoned in it's special Au jus, and served on hard french bread.  Two Chefs does a great job at this presentation, but I personally like our Pasta Rigatoni in the Vodka Cream Sauce with Spinach and Mushroom. Ours is bright and light for a pasta and makes a great dish for lunch or dinner. Make sure you save a slice of bread. You'll want it for that sauce left at the bottom of your bowl!
