Will solar vehicles have a chance?

Would starting a business for solar vehicles be a good idea?

At this time I don't believe so. The oil industry has such a hold on alternative fuels at this point that it wouldn't be a profitable business.  Also, electric cars are a perfect example. They also made a car that was hydro powered. That would be the best solution but it also was pushed down by the oil industry.

No. In my opinion, cars today are so highly efficient, that it simply doesn't make sense to spend all the R & D money.

they will have a small portion at this point

Yes. The battery technology and for power storage and out put is there. If the collection/solar panel can be produced at the right amount for durability it would be great.

May be too soon for that, but that's business sometimes an early gambol pays big dividends.

At this point in time its not practical. When someone develops a solar system that can generate power to power the vehicle to standard speeds and that can store power to be used when systems cant be charged due to lack of sun for solar panels. Also have to develop the system to travel long distances with lack of light. Its possible but to knowledge not developed

I personally don't think they are a good idea. I think they would not be able to generate enough power from just sunlight to keep the engine running for a substantial length of time. Possibly if they had gasoline or electricity as a backup though.
