How We Got Started

I've been fascinated with computers and the internet since way back in the early '90s when it was all brand new. In 2012 I started writing a book and while writing, built a website to promote it, only to realize that when anyone searched for the topic of the book I was literally nowhere to be found. That's when I started learning about Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. What was a fascination became an obsession and my passion grew to help others be found for their products and services as well. I truly enjoy helping others by solving marketing problems in their business.

I have an in-house PR strategy that gets (multiple) Google Page 1 results consistently, including Google News, USAToday.com, and the like within 48 hours, and usually overnight. Not only that, but the distribution is as good anything out there, including BusinessWire. And if you really want to swing for the fence - Reuters, Yahoo News, and Associated Press or Morningstar.com are available. Obviously those come at a premium but overall prices are reasonable.  Feel free to msg me. Brent

The other is to put a link in an email to the prospective review provider such as Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc. I also give them an outline of the review such as; If you’re not sure what you’d like to write in your review, here are some points we’d love to hear about from you… What item or service did you purchase? The main reason(s) for your purchase The full name of the person you dealt with and the business name What you like most about it Would you recommend this to their friends and family? In the case of say, a fence company, what you'll likely get is something like this; "We purchased a 4ft decorative aluminum fence for our backyard because we needed a place for our dogs to play outside. Tom Smith, of Smith Fence Company, talked to us about several options and was very helpful. What we like most about our new fence is the fact that our place looks very nice we don't have to worry about the dogs getting loose, highly recommended." Not only does this frame a great review, but if you look closely, you’ll see that some of the main keywords that any fence company would be going after are in the review. Does that even matter, you ask? Consider this, Google, as well as other reviews, can be bought, yes it happens because people want to shortcut the system. But, you can usually spot them easily after a while as they go something like… “Great product and customer service was great too, highly recommended” You don’t have to know anything about a business to leave that kind of review, and the Google algorithm knows this so these get less weight than the example above where the customer is talking about things that Google can directly relate to the website and the GMB listing. Hope this is helpful and good luck getting those keyword-rich reviews! Brent Sparks

I wish I had known not to hire too early, spend too much, and overwork myself. :)  But, hindsight is 20/20. Well in a word, yes! Being that we are a digital marketing company, if our efforts provided no value we probably wouldn't be here.  I'll be posting a case study on our blog soon showing how we helped a Florida fence company grow from $750k to over $3M in a two year span! (more) Hey Jon, I've seen several good points made here and thought I'd throw in some points to consider as I have done this very thing myself over the last 4 years. 1. If you don't already have one, create yourself a Gmail address. This can be yourname@gmail.com or your businessname@gmail.com. Make certain that you phone verify it and write down your password! 2. I see you are an LLC which is great. Change the URL of your FB page to https://www.facbook.com/JGarnerConstructionLLC 3. Follow that naming structure on every web property you create... some, like Yelp will auto-create using your business name anyway. Reason being is that you want to create brand consistency across the web. 4. Get yourself a physical address. It can be your home, but is best if it is in the city limits in which you primarily want to do business. 5. Once you have a physical address, (it won't work with a PO Box) Set up a "Google My Business" page here. You'll get a postcard in the mail from Google with a code to enter on the Google My Business website to verify your business. Make note of how your GMB listing shows your business name, address, and phone number and use that exact format to create other social properties. These five steps will lay the basic groundwork for getting your name out there and establishing yourself as a legitimate brand. There are many other technical facets of establishing your name, but these are essential. Wish you well and welcome any comments/questions. Brent SparksFounder - Sparks SEO LLC
