L’Ecole Française du Maine is the only French immersion school north of Boston! We are an accredited Independent School offering the International Baccalaureat Primary Years Programme from Early Childhood through Elementary grades. Our faculty comes from France and other French-speaking countries to share their language and culture with our students in an authentic environment. The children learn the language in a natural context. Families value and appreciate the benefits of international education for their children. Our School also offers excellent music and arts education as an integral part of our program at all grade levels. Maximizing a child's natural ability to learn a language at a young age, we use a full language immersion approach in Early Childhood and a bilingual approach in elementary grades with the addition of English Language Arts. This results in a full, bilingual experience that prepares our students well for future success and opens doors of opportunity. We don't teach French, we teach in French!

The School was founded in 2002 and has grown ever since. Considering the large Franco-American/Francophone population concentrated in this area, the Founders sought out to create a French learning experience for the children in Maine. Many people in Maine grew up with French-speaking parents and grandparents but regrettably did not learn the language themselves or pass it on to their children. L'Ecole Française du Maine provides the opportunity to share and revive that cultural heritage with the younger generation. Today, as in 2002, the rigorous educational program contributes to the French language’s renaissance in Maine and the development of our students into ambassadors of peace.
