I always cringe a little when someone uses the words "affordable" or "reasonable", because everyone has their own idea of what... (more) **Disclaimer: SEO is my area of expertise The word "best" is always a tough one, because it is relative to the person using it and the person answering the question. I always cringe a little when someone uses the words "affordable" or "reasonable", because everyone has their own idea of what those words mean. I've had some potential clients think that $1500 a month is extremely affordable, while others have told me that $399 a month is "way too expensive". Like many things, it's all relative to a person's past experiences and budget. That being said, here are the best ways to drive traffic to your business based on my own personal experience and the feedback I have received from others: SEO: Still works extremely well, and more people than ever are using their PC or phone to search for a product or service online. Tends to be less expensive than PPC over the long haul, and typically converts better as well. SEO does require some patience, as it will take some time (typically at least 2-3 months depending on the type of campaign, niche and competition) before you will see any type of ROI. PPC (Pay per Click): Benefits would include instant gratification in the form of ads that are typically live within 24 hours of setting up your campaign. Most PPC platforms (Adwords, FB ads, LinkedIn ads) are also very good at narrowing down your target market so your ad is only shown to specific demographics, industries, etc. Cons would include the overall cost, lower conversion rates, and consumer blindness to PPC ads. Social media: This is definitely the most affordable form of marketing, as you can basically do it free of cost (although we all know time is money, and most successful social media accounts require a lot of time). Social media is also very popular, and shows no signs of slowing down. Cons would be the aforementioned amount of time required, slow growth rate, and low conversion rate due to the high volume of tire kickers that often frequent social media sites. There are obviously many other ways to drive traffic to your online business (content marketing, local Chamber of Commerce, local print advertising, etc.), but these three (in my opinion) are the 3 most effective.

For tracking a client's ranking, I use Pro Rank Tracker. There is a free version for a small amount of keywords, and the paid plans are very affordable. Several cool tools and features as well. One of my clients is a catering company located in Charlotte, NC. (more) One of my clients is a catering company located in Charlotte, NC. When he contacted me in August of 2013, he was struggling to keep the doors open, and was skeptical about SEO and how it would benefit his catering business.  After exchanging a few emails, I convinced him to give me 3-4 months to prove that I can deliver on my promises. Within those 3-4 months I was able to increase his traffic from just over 100 visitors a month to about 850, and his revenue tripled. He is currently getting over 1300 visitors a month,  and expanded to a much larger location in 2015.  To this day, he tells me that their success would not be possible without my efforts, and that makes it all worth it.

As long as people are using search engines to find a product or service, search engine optimization will be in demand. Ask yourself this: How often do YOU go past the first page of results? The numbers don't lie: Over 90% of searchers don't go past the first page (Forrester), so there are thousands of businesses missing out on traffic and customers.  To reiterate, there are many ways to drive people to your website. SEO just happens to be one of the more effective  ways to do so.

(more) To get your business directly in front of people looking for flooring, I would first start with SEO (search engine optimization). Over 90% of search engine users don't go past the first page when doing a search, so if you're not on that first page, your business is practically invisible to thousands of potential customers.  The next platform that I would recommend is pay per click. It can get expensive, but when done right, can achieve the goal of getting your business in front of the right people.  AdWords, Facebook and LinkedIn are the best for this in my opinion.  Lastly, you may want to look into social media. It can be time consuming,  but it is affordable (free except for your time), and is effective if you are disciplined enough to stick to it.
