I don't think it matters. I use MS Word on the Mac. It was originally written for MSDOS, ported to Windows. As long as it does what you need. That's what matters. 50,000 words. However, the industry seems to prefer between 80,000 and 100,000. Page numbers don't count as agents like manuscripts double-spaced and in Times Roman. I prepare my manuscripts  single-spaced and formatted for publishing, using Cambria. I'm going to have to switch my formatting and... (more) 50,000 words.
