About Us

LIFE'S BETTER WITH GREAT STORIES!

On a Thanksgiving several years ago, I wanted my parents to share the great stories and memories I had from my childhood. I set up the video lights, cameras, and microphones, and it looked like a television studio set. I started asking questions, and that's when I realized they could no longer tell their stories. They both had Alzheimer's disease.

I have always loved hearing great stories, and I want everyone to tell their story before it's too late!

At first, stories came to me as I listened to my parents, grandparents, and cousins tell amazing stories. Later, I studied broadcasting and told stories on radio and television: stories that provided important information, grabbed attention, made a point, entertained, affected people to make informed decisions, and they've sold lots of stuff! Hopefully, the stories made people's lives better.

Whether you're talking about your business or your life, if you want people to listen, you need to tell a great story.

I have been blessed to meet and interview amazing people all over the globe. I hope that my stories and the ability to help others tell their stories make a positive difference in their lives.

If you'd like my help telling your story on video, call me for a free 15-minute consultation.

What a wonderful idea...especially after all the Alignable community did whatever they could to help their clients and community stay open and safe. It's really nice to get recognition even though everyone was simply trying to do their part. Keep up the good work. Here's to a better year for all! It has been a great way to do good and promote local wedding vendors.

In a world of "sameness", we decided to "Wow" our clients with a "Same Day Edit and Premiere" video showing at their event. We give video clips to an editor who works throughout the event to create an emotion-packed piece of art. For weddings, we have created cinematic movie trailers. Imagine what it would be like for a couple to see themselves for the first time as husband and wife on a big screen surrounded by their families and friends at their reception? Tears are flowing and big smiles prevail. Most couples expect their video to be edited in several months, but we provide them with a sneak peek with a film that rivals a movie trailer...after their first dances and the cake cutting! We have also done this "David Copperfield styled magic" at corporate events. A few years ago, we produced a highlights film of that weeks' events at a national convention. Our Same Day Edit Film drew the applause and standing ovation of over 500 fraternity attendees at The Peabody Hotel. We have found that our "Same Day Edit and Premiere" not only wow's our clients, but it almost always cinches a new client or two at the event. Dare to be different and WOW your clients.

I'm sure that others have given you good tips. Since you mentioned "client" I assume that you are contractually committed. If not, offer to help her find someone who is a better fit. If she is a client, the way I have always handled it was to live up to my contract, be kind, professional, and empathetic...but be very clear in all communications. Back everything said up with an email of understanding. Over-deliver if possible and document in email everything you did for her. If she crosses the line, be kind but clear that she has crossed the line and ask why she said what she said, or acted that way towards you. As Zig Ziglar once said, "She may not be mad at you. Someone else has just been kicking her cat all day"...and you happened to be the first person she could dump on. She may also be one of those people who takes advantage of people, or one who simply can not be pleased. My guess is that she is a low-budget-bride. I've been shooting weddings for 35 years, and every time that I've had an issue, it was because I needed the money and worked with someone who was not an ideal fit, and who didn't understand or appreciate the value of what I was doing for her, or she was mad because she spent more than she could afford.  Try to get to the source of the problem, be empathetic, get through it, and figure out how to avoid it in the future. As my momma used to say "This, too, shall pass." Hang in there and good luck!

If you have produced a few events, then use photos and video as your portfolio. Assuming your clients are happy, ask them for 1) referrals and 2) to give you a great review on The Knot, Wedding Wire, and any other event sites that your clients frequent. Ask family, friends, and peers for introductions to your "target" clients. Give them great examples of the kind of clients you serve best. Don't go for "everyone" because then you'll get "no-one". Be clear about what you want, and specific about your target clients. Then, take prospects and venue owners out for coffee, tea, or a meal and build relationships. Ask them what their greatest need is. Offer to help with services that you can deliver. The goal is to get introduced, get your foot in the door, build a relationship, then serve well. Good luck!

I called it my office away from my office. Somehow Borders Books created the sense of community and it was not unusual to run into lots of people I knew. It was also a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry, and to do research or hold a business meeting. I might would have felt guilty for hanging out there daily except for the fact that I aways bought hundreds of dollars of books and magazines there yearly. Unfortunately, in Memphis, I don't know of a Bookstore quite like it. It's sad that they weren't profitable enough to stay in Memphis.

If your event is large enough and unique (what you described sounds unique), you may even be able to get underwriting from a pharmaceutical company or a healthcare company that serves the same client base. Building a relationship with key health professionals is a great way to grow your business faster. Make sure to be clear about how you can help them, and ask for appropriate referrals. Good luck!
