There are 2 items that cost $0.00 and can make a decent improvement in how search engines view and rank your LOCAL business website:
1 - Ensure you have a Google My Business listing, populate it with good quality info about your business/products, optimize it to attract the clients/customers your wish to do business with and get photos/videos on there. No cost, just your time.
2 - Get your business listed on all the top directory/citation spots which you know your clientele/customers frequent. By having listings in Bing Places, Yahoo!, YellowPages, Yelp, Foursquare, Hotfrog, Alignable, Local you are giving your local business several more online "footprints" that can add traffic, gain notoriety/trust and create small credibility links that search engines love to see.
Be sure to be consistent with your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) though for best effectiveness.
