It all started back in 2012 when I was working as a lead web designer and web developer for Disney Entertainment Group. I realized I could offer my 13 yrs of experience to a broader audience if I went out on my own.

Since I'm a full stack web developer I have noticed personality goes a long way in building a relationship with a client BUT coming from a client perspective personality is great but you need someone who can back up that personality with lean code examples and a few years of industry experience.
The biggest problem which choosing a web developer in todays age of hiring them through UpWork or many other social resources is really gauging if they are truly competent and infact can guarantee a fail proof proof of concept and rapid prototype.
I've have been involved in dozens of projects where I was hired to clean up thousands of lines of code due to a developer over selling themselves on a specific project thus causing the client thousands of more dollars to correct there work.
This can be avoided by having a highly detailed report regarding your project, milestone expectations and doing your research on what types of development you need then delivering that report to the developer and discussing it in detail.
Note: Understanding your own project and it's technology stack and complexities will also help you locate the best developer for your project and save you thousands of dollars of re development.

UI will always play the most important role in a business driven website. Unfortunately on many business <B2C> to <B2B> sites the road map isn't driven properly therefore causing a huge break in communication for not only the user, consumer but the meta data of the website.
User experience is literally the engine that drives visitors to your site and regardless of the bells and whistles you throw into your site content, if it doesn't flow properly and doesn't have value to the user experience it will drive away visitors.
I have seen and worked on hundreds of large scale corporate driven sites where sadly the user experience was driven by marketing content that not only had no value but the placement of content itself did not use proper UI/UX methodology.
Your site is a sales engine and is also a driving force to your brand identity and product offerings so think clearly and precisely on not only who your customer is but why they would choose your company/business over another.
Scale back on what's popular in today's web design's and think outside of the box on what truly makes your company unique and create that story by using correct user experience and engagement value.
