It's so interesting to find so many successful owners who still feel lonely and empty after building something. It doesn't have to be this way. (more) Holiday Campaigns and Promotions work. For the right type of business, tap into the psychology that your (and my) clients already have.   Why fight that?  And, instead of looking at the holidays as Thanksgiving through New Years, what if you set up a year long calendar to market through the year?   For example, what if you sent a special invitation in October, or a personal letter with 12 insights you learned from the last quarter to make the next quarter amazing, or a Save the Date Campaign, or the list goes on...  And in addition, what if you reached out to your top 20% of clients and called them to check in starting today?    Let them know you're thinking of them and were doing a gratitude exercise and you wanted to reach out.   Or - what if you recorded a personal audio message and then sent that to your top clients or potential clients in an email. Marketing is not an event.  Marketing is a a mindset.  It's communication, relationship building, adding value, and sharing your story over time. Done right, you also track it with a special response number, link, or code.  It creates an ROI as most think of it in terms of Return on Investment.  Even deeper than that can be the return on interaction, the return on insights, and return on impact.   Happy Holidays!   Happy to send you a sample of a Photo Card and Letter we sent out to our clients and top relationships pre-holiday.   Private message me and I'll send to you.

You can listen and watch as we walk through it for free on an episode of our show at http://www.growthtofreedom.com/42 It's titled:   The 10x Rule for Effectiveness, Success, Fulfillment, and Enjoyment in Your Business and Personal Life.

The principles can apply whether fundraising for charity, raising VC money, or bootstrapping a business. Identify your 'Dream Candidates' and then get in those companies shoes. What do they WANT? What are their dangers, opportunities, strengths. They get hit up by lots of others who all have good causes. What is it that makes what you do and have for them unique? How will it HELP them? What problem can it solve for them? How does it get them closer to what's important to them? Then, what is your non-profit's 'story' that compels people to want to support you and your cause. You're not asking a 'company'. You're asking a human being. A person. It's Person to Person. What is the who, what, when, where and how of what you do making an impact. Show the charity how 1 child was impacted and tell that story - and then have them imagine how that there help can help that many more. Also open the door to find out other ways they could help you besides money. One of the biggest misses by groups is not utilizing the other assets that can be brought to the table. I've seen it time and time again where charities go to companies and if they get or don't get $$, they miss leveraging other assets like talent, connections, networking, PR, wisdom, and more. Financial capital is one thing. Relationship capital and experience can be worth even more, leveraged the right way. Also - my friend Joe Polish demonstrates the golden rule too: "Never ask someone to give something to you until you've added value to them first." This applies in fundraising, business, and personal relationships too. Best of success. Dan
