Commercial photographers supply many different types of imagery, such as product, lifestyle and environmental images for companies.  The qualities I would look for are intelligence, resourcefulness and good communication skills, as well as someone who has a comprehensive understanding of lighting and design principles. Project management skills are also very important as they help maintain quality and keep projects on schedule and on budget. A can-do attitude and good decision making and problem solving abilities are also important.
