(more) As a Business Consulting Company, we work closely with a variety of businesses both small and large. Throughout the years and after speaking with many clients there is one common characteristic that separates the successful entrepreneurs vs. the not-as-successful entrepreneurs and that is what we refer to as “THE GRIND”. For new business owners and entrepreneurs, you must be willing to spend 16, 17, 18 hours a day consistently developing your business. Whether that’s writing a business plan, developing a website, creating a strategic marketing initiative, identifying additional funding, sending emails, reviewing financial statements and documents, or developing a sales strategy. It is imperative to continuously develop the foundation of your business. The worse thing for an entrepreneur is to lose out on a deal/customer/or a sale because they were not prepared. Honorable Mention *Be comfortable with being uncomfortable. *Do not be afraid to cold call. Yes, no one likes to cold call but if you can provide value to a potential customer, they will more than likely consider buying from you down the road. *Tell everyone about your business. You will be surprised by who your next customer will be. *Sales! If you are not a natural salesman that’s ok. Develop a sales pitch that is natural and works for you – while also adding value to your customer needs. *Put everything in writing. Verbal agreements are Null & Void. *Mistakes are inevitable. But learn early and learn fast. *Try not to let fear and doubt be your Achilles Heel. *As a consultant I’ve heard this quite often from new entrepreneurs.
