I prefer Breakfast or lunch meetings. In the evening people are ready to socialize and kind of tend to forget why they are there. :-) Breakfast meetings are really my favorite because you get up and out and can get to working on the connections you made and can often make some introductions... Most people just want to be heard and acknowledged. If there is anything I can do to fix the situation, I do it. Then I ask what else I can do to make them whole since they lost time, were frustrated or ???. Thanking them for bringing the situation to my attention is KEY. Most people don't want more than a problem to be fixed. I will send them a Gift Card or stop in with flowers or a treat. The customers who complain, care enough about the relationship to tell you. Others just leave and you never know WHY. Be grateful for the chance to fix the issue.
